Marple's Robbie in final!

A former pupil from Marple Hall School in Stockport is being backed by staff and pupils to win BBC 1’s talent show ‘So You Think You Can Dance?’Former student Robbie White, aged 22, has made it through to the final of the dancing competition. 

Robbie’s former teacher at Marple Hall School Diane Watkins remembers him as a student who was ‘born to dance’.

Diane said: “Robbie, initially, was very private about the fact that he attended dance classes, however, I was aware of his talents and in 2001 I started a GCSE Dance Class. He did of course gain an A * in his GCSE Dance Exam. Robbie was born to dance and I’m delighted that he has the opportunity to pursue his dream.”

Robbie was awarded a prize for the student ‘Most Likely to Be Famous’ at his leavers assembly in 2003.

Whilst a student at Marple Hall Robbie took part in a range of school productions including Joseph & His Technicolor Dream Coat.

Headteacher at Marple Hall School, Lesley Calderbank, said: “We are all immensely proud of Robbie’s achievements at Marple Hall and are supporting him every dance step of the way.”
