Date published: 11/02/2010

Staff, parents, children and governors at Mersey Vale Primary School in Heaton Mersey, Stockport are celebrating after an Ofsted inspection judged the school to be ‘outstanding’.

Ofsted gave the school, which has 213 pupils, the highest Grade 1 assessment following a rigorous inspection last month. This is the second consecutive time the school has been judged as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

The report stated that ‘the school has gone from strength to strength since the previous inspection and continues to offer its pupils an outstanding quality of education’.

The report also stated ‘excellent leadership at all levels creates a very strong sense of teamwork, dedication and determination among staff to provide each individual with the opportunities and skills to help them reach their potential’.

Headteacher, Jayne Mullane, said: “We are delighted to receive such a positive report from Ofsted showing that the school is ‘outstanding’. Mersey Vale Primary School provides children with a vibrant, exciting and challenging environment to learn in, which allows our children to make excellent progress throughout their time at the school.

“This report is a real endorsement of all the hard work, dedication and commitment of all the children, staff, parents and governors associated with the school. I’m extremely proud to be headteacher at this wonderful school.”
