Cale Green, the Stockport & District Sunday Football League champions, battled their way through a bruising encounter over in Kirkby against Mariners FC in the North West Champions Cup. Referee Brian Sims was kept busy, mainly by the home side, who only had nine men on the pitch at the final whistle. Scott Dignan's first half goal was superbly defended by our champions, Mickey Ryan and Martin McDonald both in superb form. With virtually the last kick of the game, Lee Morris put the game beyond doubt with his goal. In the next round they will play the Jolly Carter.

The quarter finalists for both the Stockport & District FA's two competitions are now all in place. Holders Real Reform, had a comfortable win against Stockport Dynamoes. In the extra period, Offerton proved the stronger and ran out winners with another Turner goal and one from sub Lee Cook.

Salisbury Club, and Hillgate Spartans, in the all Division One clash, even had to go into the penalty shoot out to decide the issue. In ordinary time, Brian Chapman gave Hillgate the lead, Dave Edisford replying at the other end. No further goals followed and the difference between the two teams in the shoot out was Hillgate's keeper, Troy Whittle, who saved two of the Club's spot kicks.

If the Adswood United and Heaton Plough game had have been in the league, a draw would have been a fair result. Plough started the better side, and finished the better side, but it was Andy Rowlands who decided the game in favour of the home side.

Making up the trio of Division One sides left in are Harvester, who hit fellow strugglers Offerton Nomads for ' six '. They were five nil up at half time, only managing another goal in the second half, while Nomads, with a mini revival, scored three. The FA trophy games were equally exciting. The top two teams from Division Four, Cheadle Hulme Athletic and Marple FC, had been drawn together. They have met once in the league, with Marple inflicting Cheadle Hulme's only defeat. To prove it was not a fluke, they did it again in the cup. It was a game of few chances, but Marple always seemed to be the team more up for it and in control. Josh Simsolo, who missed Marple's best chance of the first half, atoned for his error and easily tapped in Danny Liverick's low cross into the six yard box. The only threats to Marple’s goal were two free kicks from Neil Booth, his first just over, his second hitting the bar. Cheadle Hulme drew level just before half time when Alex Sangway latched on to a through ball, out-stripped the defence and slotted the ball into the net. The winner was a superb 40-yard strike from Louis Smith to give Marple a deserved win.

Roaring Winds, who lost in the league to Offerton Green reserves just a week ago, exacted their revenge, by beating them in the cup. The next four ties featured teams from other leagues. AFC. Stockport were glad to hear the final whistle in their game with the East Cheshire SundayLeague side, Bramhall Athletic. Missing early clear-cut chances did not help their cause, especially Nick Small's penalty miss at 0-0. A scare at the other end from a free kick saw the ball flying off Matthew Skinner's head to hit his own bar. Stockport did take the lead when the Williams double act, Rick and Tom, combined for the latter to score. Bramhall deserved their equaliser just before half time, Reece Jones scoring from the penalty spot following a foul. Rick Williams restored the lead for his side when put through by Ashley Grimes, but they had to survive a late onslaught from the Bramhall side, Alistair Robertson rattling the bar with a great shot their best chance of an equaliser.
